Help, JB Enterprises? Value? Info
« on: August 15, 2013, 06:16:03 PM »
Good afternoon. (Long post, not sure if in right category, Sorry for that).

I have a 1982 FL250. Long story short it sat in a shop for 12+ years before I got a hold of it.  It now runs, has a new battery, starter, ring gear, kill switch, rebuilt fuel pump, etc.

I am looking for any info that you guys could provide as I am unable to find any about this one and I will be getting rid of it eventually to make room for a new project.

What I know:
82 FL250 customized by JB Enterprises
Custom rollbar
250cc motor, bored .10 over, coated piston, Yamaha liquid cooled head, and a Mikuni 34mm carb
Goki Electric Start
Wide snowmobile pulleys and drive belt
fiberglass body with quick (pop off/disconnect) panels
sitting on a 4140 steel rear Axel and extended front swingarm
nerf bars
Seat lowered 6"
4 point harness
Aluminum 8" wheels with rear bead locks

What I don't know:

Anything about JB Enterprises
What is a FL 250 worth?
What is my FL250 worth?
What do I have? just a customized FL250 or is there a name for it? (Someone once said stadium racer but that does not sound right as I cant find anything for that)

Thank you in advance for looking and or responding. Pictures will be attached so you can see what I am talking about.

Not familiar with them... I thought it was a challenger until I saw the rear axle... The challenger added rear suspension as well...

I don't believe stadium racer is correct, that kind of racing hadn't come around, yet. I've seen pictures of that type of 250 racing at different California off road tracks. With the seat that low, I'm thinking flat tracker.

Value is always a subjective thing, it could be very desirable to the right person, but I wouldn't think much more than $1000-1500.
The usual 'my two cents' disclaimer applies. :)

I also say flat tracker. It would be worth the most to someone who wants it for nostalgia. To someone wanting to ride it, it is basically a very clean FL250 with aftermarket add ons.

JBE was big into Sprint Car.

Looks alot like it was built for "Class Two" racing. A similar one below:

Thanks everyone for the info so far.

hoodlum, did all of them have rear suspension or was it a choice when you bought them?

Odypilots, thanks for the price range, any idea where I could find those photos?

Livewire/Odypilot, I'll look into flat tracker thanks, and it is def. clean

Casey Davis, I am out of Nevada, so that would put me around 1,000+ miles from you, but there is a thing called shipping should that come around. And I will also have to look into that Class two info you posted, because that looks close to me.

Also, does anyone know if there is a way to find out the history (if any) based off any numbers on the 250? say motor or frame?

Would pictures without the fiberglass help at all?

Thank you again.

Serial Numbers:

Model / Engine / Frame / Carburetor

FL250 ('77) / FL250E = 1000001 - 1021600 / FL250 = 1000001 - 1011921 / 092B (A)
FL250 ('78) / FL250E = 1021601 - 1024758 / FL250 = 1100001 - 1112345 / 092B (A)
FL250 ('79) / FL250E = 2000001 - 2012620 / FL250 = 2000001 - 2012620 / 092B (A)
FL250 ('80) / TBO4E = 2000001 - 2006341 / TBO4O = 2000001 - 2006315 / 092B (A)
FL250 ('81) / TBO4E = 2400001 - 2406819 / TBO4O = BC400001 - BC406324 / 092B (A)
FL250 ('82) / TBO4E = 2500001 - 2513931 / TBO4O = CC500001 - CC514700 / 092B (A)
FL250 ('83) / TB04E = 2600001 - 2617490 / TBO4O = DC600001 - DC617555 / 092B (A)
FL250 ('84) / TB04E = 2700001 - 2703750 / TBO4O = EC700051 - EC703225 / 092B (A)

Note: The frame serial number is stamped on the top of the frame at the left-hand rear corner. The engine serial number is located on the rear platform of the crankcase by the mounting bolt.

icouldusesomehelp,

Honda Odyssey Fl250's only had two "generations". Yellow (half roll cage) 1977-1980 and Red (full roll cage) 1981-1984. Neither came equipped with rear suspension. There were companies that made aftermarket parts that included rear suspensions and accessories for these models though.

I would like to see more images, maybe with the glass off.

I think I just saw the pictures surfing around the net. Casey Davis has hit the nail on the head with the Class 2 call. I would have thought the seat too low for offroading, but in one of the pictures he posted, the seat is in the same position.

Casey Davis / Odypilots Thank you for all of the information.

Things got extremely busy for me so I have not been able to do anything yet, but I have some more pictures for you.  if there is anything on the ground under/around it that is from my newest project (77 K10).

Also once I am ready to sell it (spend the time to re-list all info etc) is there a way to link this post assuming this forum has a for sale section.

Thanks again,
Drew.

Just copy the link from your browser and paste into the for sale post. It will be recognized as a URL and get linked.

This was considered a class II odyssey. Very popular racing in the mid 80s and on. This was a JB Enterprise car out of Sacramento. JB also builds sprint cars and parts.
I know a lot of guys looking to buy back there old racers. Let me know if you or anyone else has these cars for sale!
Thanks
