The pictures in the other thread show the shocks are not stock. The tie rods may still hit the frame. Clearance would need to be checked.

livewire,
this is a proven fix? was this recomended from ATVR? I am still confused by the geometry that causes the inside tire to turn much sharper. I think they are the stock shocks, I recently repainted them.

unfortunately I do not have the original tie rods so that is not an option

why did people install the ATVR kits? How is it better than stock?

thanks

I have not done that fix since I do not have an ATVR anti bump steer setup. I have an Aftershock one which has very close to optimal toe-out on turn also called Ackermann angle. I do understand from a geometrical point of view why it would make things better. There have been people in the past who have made the change I suggested and said they had good results. There used to be a guy going by the name Big Tom who did. I would trust Tom's judgement.

The bottom picture below shows perfect Ackermann. The top picture shows a technique for achieving it. Stock Pilot steering has an additional twist too it, the spread between the two inner tie rod ends. Your current setup has two additional factors, the spread between the inner links and the tie rods on the idler arms. Those 3 points of the tie rod ends being spread apart increases toe-out on turn. Get rid of one and it will be reduced.

so the inner tie rods are for bump steer? the best we can tell they do not fit properly. they seem to bind.
Can original tie rod & ends be had?
that said I was bairly able to get toe and camber set with the inner tie rods I have. to get it to hit the stop we had to screw the outer tie rod ends, all the way onto the outer tie rod.

Come to find out previous owner had someone else install the new parts and it was never aligned. I got a 4 wheel alignment done today. it took 2.5 hours

with a quick 5 min test drive it seams to be doing well.

I'm not sure if the originals are available. I have not heard they are not.

You don't even have the ATVR set up.... It's sort of the same style, but not it... Looks like someone done a shade tree hack job trying to copy it....
I think you will have problems ever getting that thing to act right....

The ends on there are likely the originals. Only the tie rods, not the ends would need to be replaced to go back to stock.

The verify you can, jack up the machine and verify a straight line can be run from the tie rods ends to the flag on the stem.

Some time ago took it to my mechanic friend and we did a 4 wheel alignment and all is good now. apparently the previous owner never did an alignment.
