Fuel Tubing Size
« on: December 09, 2009, 05:10:50 PM »
Hi again.

I am going through and replacing all of the fuel line tubing, but the old tube is really worn and cracked and I can't read the size of it.  I believe I read that there is both 3/16 as well as 1/4", but I don't know what size to use where.

Tank Petcock -> Fuel Filter
Fuel Filter -> Fuel Pump In
Crankcase -> Fuel Pump In
Fuel Pump Out -> Tee
Tee -> Carb
Tee -> Tank
Anything else I've missed?

I have the manual as well, but it doesn't say what size of tube to use either.  Can anybody help me?

Thank you!

I just went to my local pepboys and brought the old fuel hose with me and made sure the I.D. was the same, but all the O.D's on the fuel hose the had were really thick but I just got some small hose clamps and I was good.But I think the 1/4 I.D fit everything.

You may run into problems with the tubing being too flexible from the engine to the fuel pump. I have seen the vacuum from the engine to the pump collapse automotive fuel line. If this happens it can be a real bear to diagnose. Ask me how I know.
