Backup plug

You know the extra plug in the head is it supposed to be the same as the one you have the plug wire hooked to? i was just wondering because the guy i got it from had a short plug in the spare plug hole and was worried if i put the one that i use to make it run in the spare hole that the piston will hit it??? Thanks in advance :D

The extra plug is just there to seal the hole in the head that honda borrowed from a motorcycle. Originally it had a block off "plug" not a spark plug in that hole. You need to run the correct plug in the center of the head and connect the coil wire to that.

Think about it. If you foul the plug that has been getting spark, what are the chances that the one not getting spark won't be fouled as well?

yes, honda intended for the extra hole to be a backup in case one fouled. but most of the time when one fouls they both foul.

why couldn't someone use a 2 cylinder coil like off a snowmobile and make use of both plugs?
