Lack of Power near top end
« on: December 19, 2008, 03:38:23 PM »
I just got done rebuilding my FL250. Now my problem is when running, and i slowly bring the rpms up it stalls, then a few seconds later goes past the stall and takes off with full power. This is a problem because when trying to open it wide it stalls for a second then finally picks up. I thought it might have been running a little lean but moving the needle clip down one didnt help at all. Runs and idles great besides this problem. Any Ideas.

A few more details please. What carb, what jets, what position is the clip on the needle? any mods?, what is your elevation? Are your clutches performing properly?

Stock Carb with stock jets, need position 2nd from the bottom ( I know its running rich, it will be moved back to the middle position). Elevation is 500 ft above sea level. Clutches seem to be working just fine. I feel likes its a gas deliver problem, or maybe timing.

Sounds more like a carb issue to me. Try reading through this jetting guide, and see if it makes any sense, and work from there.

I agree with you. I think the main jet is too small. I am running a different pipe and also a uni air filter. So that makes sense. Where would you order jets from?

you can order jets from dennis kirk, rocky mountain atv or about anywhere. I like to do my shopping through this guy. His prices are great, and he is supports our old machines with research and products.
