double air intake
« on: February 07, 2007, 09:23:22 PM »
Well, after hearing what some of you said about more air, I thought I would build one for my bike and since Im proud of it, I thought I would share it.
This is a pic of the mods I did to my airbox.  It consists of a 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 pvc elbow.  I cut a hole with a dremel and screwed the elbow in nice and tight after it was painted mat black to match.

This is the wing i fabbed out of 24 gauge sheet metal.  I wanted to use aluminum but didnt have any around the shop so i went with galvanized instead.

Here it is mounted and both tubes installed and hooked up.  The hose is pool and spa hose from Home Depot.  The upper intake holes are just a pvc fitting that fit tight inside the hose and had a wide female front.

Heres one from back a little.  You can see I broke it down like some of you have and painted it.  I really do enjoy working on this thing.  Any other tips or comments would be great.

I thought I would include this one for some of you who seem to have the same problem I faced after I painted it.  The exhaust angles as you know do a number on the frame, so I added this to knock that problem out.  I went to a local exhaust shop and did the work myself.  It didnt change the sound at all, and makes riding alot easier on your right ear.

I dont know what color it is for sure.  I went to a Dupont paint store and picked it out of the color plates.  I like it cuz its different.  I havent had time to crank and test the intake yet, but plan on doing it soon.  Hope it makes a difference worth the work.

everything looks great,i would recommend to change the blue tubing you used, and use a straight hose so its not as restrictive as the one you have just an idea  :D
