Do an internet search for the 7x14 lathe groups. I supect that that is one of the chinese units. They have mixed reviews, but most of the issues are with initial setup. The more time you spend getting the thing setup and trued before you start working on anything the happier you will be with the mahcine.

I'm pretty sure it is a Chinese unit....it's a good price for my first piece, it'll be good to see how much use I make of it and whether to uograde to a larger mill or lathe first, if need be.

Looks great for the price - it should always be good for smaller jobs (especially in aluminium).  It's amazing what the Chinese can make for the price!  I'll be interested what you think of it's quality and accuracy.

Picked up the lathe/mill combo today! At first they told me they didn't have any in stock and wouldn't sell the floor model. Then got talking with the manager about what I wanted to use it for (first off anyhow) and that I couldn't wait 2 months to get started.....he reconsidered and let me have the demo unit. So that save me having to build the whole thing from parts in a box!

The whole day was just running around, so I only had time to play a bit with the lathe, then had to go and pick up the girls from my parents. Tomorrow is paperwork...maybe some time in the shop in the evening. Thursday Trish gets comes home from her once a month stint of 3 night shifts (she stays in town with her sister), and Friday it's back to work for 5 (3 days, 2 nights), so they're won't be much done on the next week. First up on the list is clean-up and organize. Been doing too much this and that in a hurry and stuff is everywhere. Then I need to determine where I want to put the new center, at least for now. As the shop isn't finished yet, I can see it moving. I bought it with the stand (shelf/storage unit), but it's pretty light and flimsy, I may make a heaveir stand for it to sit on. I need to finally builing a welding table too, I have a 1/2" (I think it's 1/2" LOL...I know it's HEAVY) plate ~ 2-1/2'x4' that I'll use and put some 1-1/2" square tubing for legs on it, and a vise...need a vise yet...not to self...watch for vise on sale ;)

Well I'm beat, so that's the update for now!

Cool!!!  I wore out an old Jet bench top mill and an old Jet lathe - you have both in one unit.

Good setup and not taking too large of bites when you get to the precise stuff and you should be good to go.
Moskito - Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming \'WOW-What a Ride!\'
