My Pilot will be here tomorrow! Stadium racer?
« on: June 21, 2004, 09:42:13 PM »
Did an impulse buy and am having an '89 Pilot delivered tomorrow.  If we like it we will be getting a few more:)  This one is a little odd and maybe you guys know what is up.  It has the long travel suspension, (Straight through the fender in rear) and a digitron, aluminum wheels, foot operated throttle, and some other goodies, etc..
It was supposedly a "Stadium Racer" and used for professional racing.  Who knows, but the price was right and we own a fabricating shop if it needs some love.  Anyone have any insight to the stadium racer thing or is it probably BS?
  Thanks in advance

No sounds like it was setup for stadium racing....very well may have had the work done by ATV Racing.

Got any engine info? ported...400...CR500 conversion?

Where did you pick it up?

Congrats..and have fun!

Don't know much about the motor, just that it was just bored, new pist/rings.  The A-arms are six inches longer and the rear shocks are insanely long!  It has a 5 point harness and some other neat stuff.  It looks neglected but he claims it opperates great, we'll see.  Heres a pick (hopefully).  Look familiar?

I found it on ebay, but it did not meet reserve.  I made him an offer after the auction and he accepted.  From what I've seen the long travel ones go for, this seems to be a steal, but like I said it looks neglected.  Isn't my first impulse buy, probably won't be my last:)

No problem <envious grin> That machine will soak up the rough stuff like a dream.....Have you got a manual? if not get one, there are links to online ones available too.

Give it a good going over, but yeah if it's decent shape (cosmetic aside) you should have a nice machine to ride.

Well I just checked in and he's about a half hour away from picking it up.  He claims it needs nothing, "turn key and drive".  Comes with some extra tires, fenders, lights, etc...  Purchased for $5,900.  I see the one on Ebay  (very nice BTW) going for $10k so who knows.

Thanks, he just called, it is on the truck!  Says it looks good, better than than pics and no issues.  They had to remove the rear tires to get it in the P/U:)  Should be here around 10:00 tonight.  The guy said he had well over $10k into it.  If we like it we'll need a couple more:)

WOW

Appears you did get a HELL-OF-A-DEAL...

I paid $6500 for my last one and I thought I stole it   :)

I will most likely be selling my other LT Pilot sometime very shortly.
But I'm afraid I'll be wanting something closer to $10K for it...

Most LT Pilots have been selling around $10-$12K and the stocker's have been going for $5-$7K - From what I have seen lately...

Post those picts and a review
