Less oil means less lubrication and also means less power. There is a common misconception that less oil will make more power. I find that 32:1 with a good oil like Golden Spectro, Maxxima, etc is a good balance between engine protection and smoke. The FL350 is jetted rich at low speeds which causes it to smoke more and leak oil out the exhaust. Dropping the slow jet to a 45 will reduce oil leaking out to little or none on a machine running a 32:1 ratio.
