Odyssey FL350R / how to build a salisbury clutch puller
« on: April 24, 2010, 12:03:57 AM »
3/4" fine thread Grade 5 bolt 2.5 inches long, 5/8" OD spacer 2.5 inches long.  That's it, simple.  Threads are not metric.  Spacer can be a piece of pipe or a bolt with the head cut-off to length.  Cost about $5.00

By rod size you mean the piece that goes in to push against the crankshaft ?  Does this part need to be beveled to fit in the center of the crank?  length and diameter would be appreciated.........maybe I can figure-out the bolt size.  Problem will be finding someone in my area that sells metric bolts..!!!

Hi:   Anyboby got an idea how to make a stock fl350 Salisbury drive clutch puller?  I guess the threads are Metric?  What diameter and length is the beveled spacer?  Seems like a simple home made tool, it's over $36.00 on a certain E-bay store in NY...!!! OUCH      AND, one more Q:  Will the clutch come-off without pulling or losening the engine??  Clutch to frame clearance seems a little tight.... Thanks to all for any help, this is a great thinktank for likeminded people.

Odyssey FL350R / Chattering rear brake disc
« on: April 18, 2009, 07:14:44 PM »
I hate to assume things, BUT, you do know that the drive clutch makes noise at idle, right?  Also, it sounds like the pads might be tight to the rotor and chattering at low speed.  Check the pads for loose or improper mounting and be sure to check the parking brake adjustment.

General Discussion / start in gear
« on: April 18, 2009, 07:07:46 PM »
Make sure your idle speed is set proper, 1300 rpm.  DON"T try to slip it into gear slowly, this will just grind more.   Pull up on the shifter and CRAM it into gear, swiftly.  It's not a syncromesh gearbox, and the input shaft spins in neutral, so grinding is going to occur.  Also, don't let it idle too long in neutral as the input shaft has no lubrication then.  It must be in gear to get lube.  You can defeat the neutral start switch, but if reved-up it will MOVE.  I would not advise that if your son is starting it.

Odyssey FL350R / Rev limiter ?
« on: April 10, 2009, 03:11:13 PM »
After a test ride:  I cut the gray wire that grounds the CDI in forward only, it ran crappy.  Hooked it back up and runs like a rocket.  So it has a rev limiter in neutral and reverse but not forward.

Odyssey FL350R / Rev limiter ?
« on: April 09, 2009, 05:39:03 PM »
Gentlemen, I believe you are correct.  The wiring diagram shows the "change switch" light green/red wire grounded in neutral, thus completeing the start circuit.  The other wire (gray) grounded in forward comes directly from the CDI unit.   It might be this establishes a rev limiter circuit in the CDI unit.  I have a spare CDI, so I'm going to do a little "inovative tinkering" and will post again.  Nuke Em':  haven't been to Dumont yet, but plan to.  I have multiple sclerosis, my feet don't work very well, so that's why I have a "Odyssey" (all hand controls).  Just bought it, bone stock, love it.

Odyssey FL350R / Rev limiter ?

I'm new here.  I have a question for the tech types.  Does the FL350R have a rpm limiter?  And if so, what rpm?
