Title: driven spring cover
Post by: funinoly on August 02, 2013, 11:02:03 AM
while warming up the machine and I think maybe overrevving the driven spring cover started sending off bits of plastic.
does anybody knowthe parts purpose and if I need to replace it?
thanks

Is the metal ring closest to the transmission rubbing the transmission? If so, there is a snap ring that holds the metal ring and spring in place... If this comes off, it will ruin a bunch of stuff.... I don't think these are available anymore, but if you buy a chuck of delrin big enough to make one and ship it to me, I will be happy to make one for you....

no its not. the white portion which has a taper on it I assume to keep it against the metal ring. somehow when I was revving perhaps over revving, I did not notice before the white portion was spinning independently. It looks to me to be a limiter for how far open the driven clutch can go. it that is the case I do not think it is a horrable thing. went for a short ride and it seems to be back to where it belongs.
this is what it looks like now.
