Title: Joining the fun
Post by: hemus on April 19, 2009, 04:36:21 AM
Hello to all....This would have to be the best web sites going around, congrats. Have just bought a FL250 84. It started first time but only run for about 10 mins(just starting to get worm) would not restart after that. While running it was blowing white smoke. So have pulled motor down, getting the cylinder reborded, new piston and rings, and hoping happy times after that. Just need a few questions answered please. 1- How much oil should be in the reduction unit? Have pulled bolt out and got about 1 LT out of it, no dip stick. 2 - have read that you dont put oil in the crankcase is this right? Cant wait to have this running and have as much fun as all the boys....
Regards Shaun

not sure if you need oil or not usualy there is some sort of tranny to put oil in or not i dont even have mine here to check but its kind of the same set up as a sled & the fact that its a two stroke means you just mix oil with your gas mine says 20-1 but im not even sure if thats right anymore with ethanal gas? also there is probly a reason that your fixing your engine  so make sure you find out what went wrong in the 1st place could be an air leak after the carb b4 the engine or improper jetting with an after market pipe or a lot of differnt reasons... any way thats my two cents
