Title: Beast and easiest way to remove........
Post by: Offroad Junkie on February 10, 2008, 04:37:48 PM
I have to remove my driven clutch (94c). I have heard a few different ways but I am still looking for the best. The main thing I have to do is keep the engine from turning while I am trying to remove it. The easiest suggestion i heard is to remove the spark plug and insert a rope in the comustion chamber so the piston wont move. The thing is that the person told me to ensure I have the piston at TDC but I dont know when it is at TDC. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I always use an impact wrench on the puller bolt.  When doing this use a 3/8" wrench and on low or medium, never on high.  The light blows will pop it right off without much effort.  You won't need to hold the clutch when doing this.

When installing, clean up the shaft and the bore with Emory paper or scotch bright and use a good anti-seize compound.  Don't worry about the clutch spinning in the bore with anti-seize, the taper won't allow the clutch to spin.  So next time it won't be such a pain in the a$$ to pull.
