Title: 102C problems/solutions
Post by: nuke em on May 02, 2006, 10:14:58 PM
Here I go again,  try and adjust or fix one problem and find 3 more! LOL

I pulled my shielded 102C off my normal rider to install the Heel Clickers. I had a major oil leak somewhere behind it.    There is sand stuck to it from the previous weekend. Looks to me like the counter balancer cover shaft seal, but I have not looked into that yet either.

Next, I opened up the dust shield off the 102C and off course, there is something wrong in there too. The cam arms are very sloppy, loose on the pivot bolts. The cam arm bushings were worn out and caused damage to the pivot bolts too. The cams arms would swing out but hit the walls of the spider(not allowing full extention, thus no full shift out on the drive clutch). I checked the clutch faces, yup, I am only getting the bottom 2/3-3/4 of the face. Never seen that crap happen before. Good thing I buy lots of spare parts on Ebay. Never would have known, it still walked away from my friends raptor at the dunes drag racing last week. 8)

Anyway, cleaned up the important stuff, used new pivot bolts, reshimmed and added the heel clickers, put several coats of Comet Lube on all moving surfaces and bolted it back together. Its ready to go back on the normal rider. Now I need to find the oil leak and start testing the new setup. I used the high stall purple spring and cams in the other covered 102C and put it on the 420 for testing. I have one more rebuilt 102C (no cover)with a mild engagement setup as a back-up. I got a feeling Fed wants it. His HRD is still giving him backshifting problems.

Just giving more pictures to look at, feel free to give comments or suggestions.
