Odyssey FL350R / white lithium grease on clutch?
« on: January 04, 2009, 03:48:52 AM »
No....dirt and sand will stick to it and wear it out faster.

You need to use a dry lube like Comet clutch lube.

Linky no worky....PH

Adnoh,

I haven't given it a whole lot of effort since I started the post.  I started a new job at Eby and have been working alot of hours.

The rod would be 144mm length center to center.  I was shooting for 160psi compression.  The crank cross section would be that of the stock pilot.

I was going to look into ceramic bearings for the lower end.

Odyssey FL250 / FL250 Belt
« on: December 12, 2008, 07:27:36 PM »
I have belts........for the FL250 the Hi-Torque belt is popular.  I sell them for $30 shipped.  They use Aramax cord, and they are made in the USA.

You really know your stuff.

The experiment I am attempting......is not going very well so this project is on hold for the time being.  I am trying to design a bridgeless sleeve to in stall into a cylinder.

So if you know the stock port timing you could help me calculate the potential output.

I think that we should work together on it.  I don't mind sharing information and helping guys that want to build engines on their own as long as they do it right.

I have found in the past is guys that want to build their own engines, don't know what they are doing.  Especially when it comes to high performance engines, tolerences, clearances, torques, and knowing what to look for and proper assembly procedures.

Alot of guys end up doing more damage than good.  Yes it is good for my business but that is not why I started to sell parts for them.  I'm not in it for guys to blow up their engines and come back to me for more parts.

I have a watercooled head set up that I designed.  I could sell a pile of them but I don't want the liability.  80% of my customers probably don't know what "squish" is and wouldn't care to check it even though I stress that it is a nessisary part of engine building.

So with that being said, this experiment probably won't be marketed by me unless I am 100% sure it is dummy proof and shows significant potential.

Odyssey FL250 / Oil
« on: November 09, 2008, 02:21:44 AM »
I run my hot rod silver bullet 50:1 for 3 years without problems.  Most oils of today are formulated for leaner mixes, especially synthetic oils.

I run my other toys 40:1 and have for years.  No problems and no failures........

Oil has been a hot topic in the past and most guys I would say run 32:1 to 40:1.

It has been along time since I have looked at my 250....  The engine bed has 3 mounts and only 2 stops on the front.  I don't think that a 350 would fit very easy in the frame....not saying it can't be done.

Odyssey FL350R / cap

My cap doesn't leak on any of my machines.  When you put the cap on push down and the key should snap 90 degrees counterclockwise(if i remember correctly)

Can you take a pic and show us?

How do the "ears" look that pop out when you can take out the key?

We can try Works, they do alot of custom stuff.

Where do you live, I can drop by sometime and bring some beverages.....of your choice ofcourse.
