We have one pilot totally stripped down (it' going to get some mad scientist attention  ) Whike it's down I'm going to split it's trnny and have some new final shafts made with a 1" straight shaft and 1/4" keyway instead of the pilot's splined output.
I'm going to get at least 3 made for our pilots, anyone else interested? I can have the 1" portions made long and you can cut it to length. The more I get made the cheaper they'll all be ;)
-
Hey Lude what do you think the ball park price will be.
-
Brian
Yea give us a ballpark cost
I'd also be interested in 1 possiblily 2

Do you mean these shafts, pictured with cv cups.
-
No its actually the input shaft that the driven clutch fits on the Pilot trans.
-
Thats what confused me, :? It says output shaft in ludedude,s origonal post.
I thought keyd shafts would not last on the output.
-
Will they be heat treated???? I will eventually want one.......
-
How many would ya like please email me at [email protected]

How much Jeff?
Mine were going to be made from 4140, not treatment, they'll stress harden themselves, local drag racer had some shafts made up and that's what he recommended. I don't have a ballpark figure yet, I have totake one to my guy and have him look at it closer first. Depending on Jeff's price.....
-
I'm confused...Are these input, output, final or what? I thought the driven input was keyed already...Are these finals for the rear axles? If so, how does the c.v. connect? Please elaborate a little more.....

These are the driven clutch Input shaft to adapt a Snowmobile driven clutch with a 1" keyed design to the Pilot trans. The standard Pilot shaft is splined. The FL350 Odyssey is a keyed shaft. However as I recall it is only 7/8" Diameter. Hope that helps

Thanks....Never had the driven off my Pilot, but have the oddy....I knew it didn't look like the final out-put shaft, because I have had them off....
You cleared that right up for me..
Thanks again!!!

Hey Lee, you got any of the other ends to those CV's?? I could use some of the splined hub axle ends :)
-
Do you mean the part that the ball bearings slide on that goes inside that cv cup with a spline inside it to fit on to the drive shaft :?
If that makes any sense.

The cv stub end that goes into item number 9 (Rear Wheel hub). I could use some of those if you have them.
-
Had a look today, sorry I do not have any of those :(

The tran input shaft is made from a micro alloy that the shop claims is superior to 4140. Cost is around $250 plus shipping.
-
Mine will be made from 4140, which I believe should be fine, heck buddy at work is running them on his dragster!
I should be able to sell them for $150-$175USD plus shipping. ATVNUT quoted me $250USD plus shipping, that's too much when I can get them made for $100 less. I'm not in it for the money, I just try and find cheaper places to get the things I need/want and pass them on.
I'm getting 3 made for us here, I need minimum 3 more takers to garauntee that price (need minimum order of 6). Let me know ASAP if you want one (or more ;)) as I'll be tearing apart a tranny to get a shaft as a sample, then my guy's going to start ASAP as he gets busy in May.

Thanks Lude!!!!! You are the man!!!!!

Thanks Lude!!!!! You are the man!!!!!
That mean you want one? :?

Yep, but I need to make some measurments. I might want a 7/8" shaft, if that is possible?
-
Roberto still has the 7/8 shaft last I called a few months ago

No problem. Still with a 1/4" keyway?, and same internal thread size, hope so ;) otherwise it'll be more $ (another setup).
For the others that expressed interest via pm/email, I need to know what length you want on the 1" shaft portion, otherwise yours will end up with whatever length I get for mine (have to pull mine and measure yet  ) They're going into production Mon-Tues...so let me know by Monday at the latest for any dimensional info, or they're the same as mine.
Please PayPal $175 shipping included (US and Canada only - elsewhere email me) to [email protected]
Should be ready in ~2 weeks

Getting mine made to an overall of 14" I won;t bne able to get the clutch on with the length without doing one of the following:
1. Install the clutch on the tranny, then install the tranny
2. Cut a length off the shaft, insert that into the clutch then install onto the remaining length of shaft and insert a one piece keyway (lining/linking the two together...this is similiar to what I have now with my adapter setup)
3. make a piece of the frame removeable
4. cut the shaft as in #2, and make an coupler piece the same as my current adapter.
-
Shafts are done ;) Look good too, even have the oil bath path for the gears that run on copper bushings on it (I forgot to mention those, byt he machined them in as he copied off a sample I gave him). I'll try to get them packaged this weekend ( I'm working though :() or early next week.
I can get more made at anytime, but I need a minimum of 6 for that price.
-
well did you make them one or two piece?
-
you'll have to wait and see :P
