Ride Reports / Events / Races / St Anthonys Id dune trip....1 May
« on: April 15, 2009, 08:55:51 PM »
Its my first trip there so I am excited. I am going with some military Raptor rider friends. I am bringing the 420/350 and the ATC250R(if it stops snowing long enough to weld the trailer back together, lol).

Anyway, anyone interested? I owe Adnoh pics. I am going to try and plumb the nitrous kit on the 420 too.

General Discussion / I picked up another project
« on: March 25, 2009, 09:03:51 PM »
I picked up another $200 project today from the local cycle salvage yard today. I have not has a Kawi trike since the pair of 84 Tecates I had back in the day, bad ass trikes too by the way. The new one is a black 1982 KLT 250 4 stroker(not running...yet). It is VERY clean, came with several spare electrical parts(2 coils, 2 CDIs, harness parts, coils wire and boot, etc.), manuals and a title. So, I ASSUME it is having electrical probs. It is spitting snow so I will have to wait to start wrenching. The seat is soft and pliable, paint is clean and mostly intact, hardware is not rusty, so I guess it spent most of its life in a warm garage. Stickers are peeling some or slightly fading is about the worst of it, other than not running. What do you think, decent buy?

Odyssey FL350R / 420 350 ready to play again
« on: March 15, 2008, 10:12:24 PM »
I have not turned a wrench on the 420c 350 since last summer when I did a full rebuild then. I did a much better job balancing the 88.50MM YZ piston this time so hopefully the reliability will be there. Anyway, I brought it up here to North Dakota with me last weekend to work any bugs out of it so it will be ready for any summer "Great Western ride" that may happen. The damn thing refused to start and would backfire occasionally. After some troubleshooting, I found that I had sheared the woodruff key on the flywheel. I have never had that happen to me before. I did open up and clean up the transfers, intake and exhaust ports, made a smoother transfer through the reeds and intake so hopefully it will make a little better power than before. Some of you guys might remember how it ran at Killpecker a couple of years back and that is the piston setup I went back to. I will need to pull the carb and reset the float level, dribbling some gas out and recheck some electrical stuff but I should have some action pictures soon. I could pull the front tires off the ground and carry them several yards in the dirt at 6,000 ft so i am expecting more down at 2,000ft, we will see I guess. I also added some new ATVR nerfs too, thanks Weed!

On another note, I found a used Joyner 2 seater kart up here for sale today. Looks to have a large 4 stroke engine in it. Anyone know if they are worth a crap or not. It looks used but not beat. It may be a good starter machine for the wife.

Anybody dare a guess before the game?

I am guessing the Colts but I bet it will be very close. Should prove to be a very entertaining game this year.

I am going there with some quad guys around Feb 20-25. The last day there is something called 4 stroke wars going on. I will bring the 420/350 and the 250R trike. Anyone else out there that can make it? I would love to tilt back a few barley sodas with some board members.

General Discussion / The ebay scammers are at it again
« on: December 23, 2006, 11:46:36 AM »
I got an email from an "Ebay seller" telling me he just shipped my order(which I never ordered). Any link on thier Ebay page leads to an Ebay credit card "verification" page to include the pin numbers. It looks real nice with all the Ebay colors and stuff, sneaky bastards. I would like to find these guys, I have lots of places to hide thier bodies here in Wyoming, LOL

Odyssey FL350R / 350 Radiator mounting and pumps
« on: December 19, 2006, 12:28:14 AM »
Jaguar73 has asked to see some 350 radiator mounting pictures and pump questions so I ask anyone that has some pictures to post do so, what they have used, and what did or didn't work well.

These first pictures I have archived for future use(ideas), most I do not know who installed them.

Odyssey FL350R / 350/420 replacement cylinder sleeve
« on: December 14, 2006, 12:19:29 AM »
I decided to start hunting for the replacement sleeve for the Leckich 420/350 cylinder. I am pretty sure I can hone it and put another piston back in but it may be on its last bore now at 88.50MM. DH was pretty sure they made the sleeves, I really appreciate all the info greatly. Anyway, I emailed LA Sleeve a few days back and I will let you read what they said. Any suggestions? I would like to make another jug or two setup with these sleeves............

Subject: 85 Odyssey sleeve

Hi,

I recently bought a Leckich Co. liquid cooled stadium racer cylinder for one of my 350 Odysseys. It is currently bored to 88.50MM and looks to be near the largest bore. I do know that the guy who built these got the sleeves from your company and built 1500 race cylinders. I know the largest bore for a stock 350 is 82MM and this sleeve is much larger. Is there any chance anyone there has records of what sleeve he bought from you? I am guessing it could be a CR450 or CR480 air cooled cylinder sleeve. If you have any pictures and specs on these so I can compare it to what I have now. Thanks for any help on this problem.

I know we made those sleeves for Lekich. But, I cannot locate any record. Whatever we build will probably be from scratch. Not sure on price but maybe $275 per sleeve. Let me know if you'd like to proceed. Thanks, dave@lasleeve
