I've got a RackPak Avenger II monitering system for my 670 rotax Pilot and I just bought the Water Temp Sensor probe.

I don't have the RacePak manual and the one I download from Exhaust Gas Tech. does not cover the addition very well.

My question is does it matter which position I put the water probe sensor in on the back of the Avenger ?

My choices are EGT1 EGT2 EGT3 ?
I am also running two EGT probes so all the slots will be filled

My guess is it doesn't matter since I believe the 2 LED readouts are programmable but I just wanted to double check...

Thanks

Technical / Exhaust pipe changes....
« on: April 28, 2006, 05:08:43 PM »
Alright all you GURU's.....

How can/should I Plug the twin pipe stingers and run the pipe exits out of the rear baffle cones ?

some history:
The FL670 Has custom dual exhaust pipes but I need to fab up some kind of quiet silencer...

Been reading about 2-stroke pipes - man they are complex...

I'm thinking about capping the ends and putting a "T" between the pipes going to a MBPR canister silencer....

Some newer sleds do this and I want to keep the exhaust all within the frame of the pilot
Currently my pipes are so long that they end at back of Frame leaving the silencer out in the open - YICK....

See Picts....

I could shorten the dwell on the pipes some but this would change the powerband - don't really want to do that...

I believe if I make the exits in the baffle cone I shouldn't be changing the dynamics of the pipes much - Am I correct ?

Any advise or recommendations out there ???????

PS
The ulgy homemade gas tank has been replaced with a spun aluminum so I have lots of room for the new exhaust plumbing...

Technical / Any Suggestions on Trailer AC Power...
« on: April 18, 2006, 02:05:02 PM »
Well as the story goes I finially got an enclosed trailer 7x16 so now I need to add power to it......

It is already wired with a couple small lights from the 12V plug Feed off the tow vechile...

I'm seriously considering adding a DC to AC inverter, I've been doing some research and there are a lot of choices...

I want to run a fridge full time and a few other items as needed like a microwave / Toaster / Air compressor / Radio / TV...

I'm guessing I'll need something around 1500-1750 watts and I'm wondering if I should get a inverter w/charger or if I can simply hook the
deep cycle battries on the trailer to the 12v feed from the truck to recharge them as I travel...

I will also be hooking up to 110 at campsites if available and thus I believe the inverter will just pass the 110 straigh thru under this senerio

Anyone have any experience or recommendations on what I should get - What I need - and how to hook it all up ?

I'm all ears....

Pilot FL400R / A little Pilot Story...
« on: February 24, 2005, 09:59:37 PM »
Well as our story begins, it is late fall 2004 and I am just finishing up doing the last (or so I thought) bit of maintenance on the two machines I am going to take to the Fall Ride at Litte Sahara OK

I have checked all the fluids and given both my Stock FL400 (wifes ride - or so called) and my Bad500 (My LT Pilot with a 400cc Cylinder Punched out to 500cc) the 10 point check over...

It's a nice fall evening and I've already done a couple of plug chops and everything is looking great.
I decide to take the Bad500 for a little spin around the farm and down the country roads...

I return about 15 minutes later and the Pilot is running great - One last pass to the top of the hill and I'm going to load it on the trailer for the trip. As I aproach the top of the hill, running about 50 MPH the engine slowly dies... I immediately reach down and pull the choke hoping that if I did get it hot I would be able to cool her off as I coast to a stop...

I hop out hoping that something simple happened like a) plug wire came off b) I accidently hit the kill switch c) the plug unscrewed itself (hey it's happend before) but everything looks normal...

After letting it cool down for about 10 minutes I try to give it a little pull via the start rope - Nothing doing - AH CRAP - At this point I'm guessing 4 point seizure.

Anyhow with very little time left before the Jambo I decide to push it in the garage and take my Work-in-progress FL670R instead... (In hind sight I'd guess I'd rather it blew before I loaded and halled it 8.5 hours to a ride area)

OK - Fast forward a little

Anyhow - here it is today (or so) and I have finially started tearing into the BAD500 to see what happened.

NOTE:
For those of you that didn't know the BAD500 has been my adopted experimental project since I bought it - no one seems to know its origin or who created such a beast. Many such as ATVR have said that they never punch out a FL400 cylinder to run the CR500 piston. CW Racing has admitted to doing this mod to some Pilots but claims his all have his markings on them...

It's been two years since I have had to tear into this machine so I (an others I assume) are kinda interested in seeing what has been going on...

Enjoy the Picts - Any/All thoughts are welcome...

General Discussion / Problem adding jpg's
« on: February 23, 2005, 11:16:11 PM »
How come when ever I add a 640 x 480 jpg I get the message
"The Attachment/Image must be less than 500 pixels wide and 800 pixels high"
(By the Way I belive you have your Width and Height mixed up)

I even went to someone else's old message with a jpg, save the jpg to my drive and then tried to add it to one of my post and I still get the same error message.

Do you scale the images after they are posted ?

Thoughts...
