Front disc brakes?
« on: March 16, 2008, 10:57:57 PM »
Hi guys,
I'm a complete newb to Odyssey's and here on the board too! I just bought a FL350 for cheap but didn't get the front wheels with it. In my quest to find/learn about front wheels, bolt patterns, etc. I came across ths site.
I read somewhere, (here?), about somebody using TRX250R spindles on a FL350, but what I'm wondering is would the 250R front hubs fit the FL3500 spindles?
From what little I've learned in the past few days, the early models, (87, 88?), 250r seems to use bearings like the FL350 does. Same ID on both inner and outer bearings.
Has anybody tried this? Any opinions as to if/how it would work?

I realize I'd have to fab up some sort of bracket for the brake calipers. That shouldn't be a problem.

My thinking is this would be a good upgrade from the stock drum brakes and also it would provide a more readily available bolt pattern for the front wheels.

Look like a great site ya have here! I'm lookin forward to reading more!

Yes, they should fit. You won't get any better brakes than what the drums will give with new lines and shoes, etc. The 250R is a lot lighter machine and the brakes were designed for that.
