Low compression FL350
« on: July 04, 2014, 11:55:31 AM »
1985 FL350 has 100psi. Just took head off for first time since new. Head very clean and cylinder looks good. Could it just need rings?

Also what are the best rings for non-recalled-upgraded motor? Or the original jug.

Check the ring gap as the top may actually be measurable without removing the cyl. You could just replace the rings but most will just do a new piston kit.

The highest wear point on on the FL350R cylinder is right above the intake port. Likely your cylinder is excessively worn there. You will not be able to see it by eye. You might be able to run a straight edge down the cylinder while it is still in the machine. Hold tight to the top of the cylinder and look for light under it above the intake port.

Also just thought of this. Try a different gauge cause I've actually seen a 30% variation in gauges.
