First let me introduce myself.
Name's Gregg , I am the owner of a small off road shop in Astoria Or.
Just started a project for a very good old friend.
Wants his 89 FL 400 restored.
His is a near perfect rig with 25 years of dust attached to it. Barn kept .
His needs ( Parts wise ) are few but hey, It's an FL 400, I didn't want it sitting in my shop for 2 years while I wait for parts.
I picked up a second FL 400 basket case to use as a donor rig . This kart ended up also being complete.
The plastics are all but shot. 1 side pod the roof , foot well and the radiator shroud are all that are salvageable.
The engine is stuck , and the upper left A arm is tocco'd .
The chassis is tweaked slightly in the front as is the upper cage. I'm guessing a role over.
Last time this machine saw the ground was 1994.
Long story short is: Once the restoration on Kart # 1 is complete I will have whats left over of the 2 machines to deal with.
I'm thinking of an engine and body work conversion for the left over chassis. But I will have a near complete engine in parts That I defiantly wont be needing.
I'll post pics of the machines as I get going on this.
The restoration is a no brain er . Powder coat / bushings / engine rebuild / etc.
It's the basket case that has me excited. I love building toys.
