Pick a category. Don't put the same post in more than one.

Putting a YZ490 piston in a 350 does not make 490cc. The stroke is much shorter.

It's a water jacketed YZ490 jug. The jug it taller and it has a bigger bore than a FL350 jug. It's to build a 490cc fl350 engine...... Was going to be a cheater engine for the 400 class the 490 piston engines ran in.

The BV is a 360 because its at 82mm. I wouldn't bore a new sleeve to the max to make it a 360 but that's up to the new owner.

Has the FL350R crank been stroked?

Some may consider pointing out incorrect information in a for sale ad is bashing. I feel that allowing incorrect information in for sale posts lowers the integrity of the board. An 87mm piston with a 68mm stroke doesn't make 490cc.

I don't know who's being called dishonest here but I guess it would technically be 487cc. BS start your own thread. I'm happy to answer any and all questions. I'll clarify what I have for sale. Modified bare fl350 cases and a water jacketed YZ490 cylinder that bolts right on. This does not come with a crankshaft or any internals. A stock 68mm fl350 crankshaft will not work with this cylinder. The port timing would be waaaay too high. I highly doubt it would run. This setup will use all of the bottom end components of the fl350 including ignition. Your crankshaft will need to be modified/stroked or as I was going to do rather than waste an fl350 crankshaft was send the specs out and have a custom crankshaft with an 82mm stroke made to the same dimensions as the fl350. You would also need to add weight to your balancer with mallory. My intentions were to compare the weight of a stock fl350 piston to the weight of a stock balancer and use the same formula on the 490 piston to calculate how much weight to add to the balancer. This would make a balanced 487cc(if on stock bore) engine. Should solve the vibration issues the 490's were known for. This would run the same RPM ranges as an FL350 with a lot more torque. The 400cc 490 piston setup a were high RPM screamers. Not preferred for most of our riding styles. If your racing that would be the hot ticket. Any other questions just ask. Thanks

How are you going to stroke an FL350R crank 14mm? The swing will be larger than the cases. 4mm, 6mm maybe, 14mm never. The 490 piston was used quite a bit to make big bore setups, but I don't know of a single one stroked that much due to it not being possible. In order to set port timing, you use a degree wheel on the crank. You don't have a crank so I doubt your port timing woule be right even if you could stroke it 14mm.

To be honest I don't know. These were the things I was told when I purchased the stuff. I don't stroke cranks(sounds kinda dirty dont it lol). I know very little about engine building. Ask Rusty L. I think his handle is rusty pilot. He knows all the details about this stuff. He's who I purchased it from. He has all kinds of this wild briggs engine stuff. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.
