New FL 250 Owner, reduction case issue
« on: November 12, 2012, 12:25:23 PM »
Hi everybody. So I'm new to the Odyssey family and forum.

I picked up 79 FL 250 last Saturday for 500 bucks and started going through it. Motor runs great but when I got under it to work on the lever break I noticed someone had JB welded the reduction case cover and its leaking like crazy. More or less I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a replacement cover. All i could find was full assembly for 400. I might try to tig weld the cracks, but would prefer a new one if possible. Thanks for any helpnyoubguys can offer.

You can try Randy at odysseysalvage.com or sometimes your best bet is going with eBay. I know several are always for sale on eBay at decent prices. Good luck.

If you weld the case, don't try to weld all the way to the gasket surface because you won't get it to seal after. Stay shy of it by maybe 1/8" then use a wicking permanent locktite to seal that 1/8".
