TIRE SIZE
« on: October 24, 2012, 06:40:03 AM »
HI  guys, I have an fl350r and i'm looking to upgrade the rims and tires.. I want it to be more race looking and a little lower in the rear.

I know the douglas rims are good but i don't know what size of rim i need for the front and rear.. and also what tire size would fit the rims.. I want a wide look in the rear. and i still have the 4-110 in the front and 4-130 in the rear..

can anyone help..

thanks

Paul

If you run the Douglas wheels:
Rear - 10x8 3+5 offset. They will widen the machine by 1 1/2" in the rear.
Front- 10x6 4+2 offset. They will widen the front by about 5" which is the best you'll get in that style wheel. The 3+2 offset will widen the same, but moving the inside of the tire out an extra inch means the center moves 1/2". The farther out you move it increases scrub radius. That puts more stress it puts on the tie rods and makes the yoke get ripped out of your hand.

With those wheels, I would run a 22x11x10 flat profile knobby tire.
Running a taller 22 or 23" tire in front will increase ground clearance at the steering loop and level the machine out a bit.

These are 23" front and rear on 12" wheels

Good info..  Thinking about running a 23" tall tire up front, and it came with 24" rears with about 95% life left on the tires...  Planning to run 10" Red Label rims all the way around.  Anyone see any problems with this set up?

Note that the rated size on the side of ATV tires can vary quite a bit from the actual size. The stock 24" tires are quite short. Most 22x11-10 tires are nearly as tall.

The tires on the rear now are ITP 24" tall tires.  Would really like to try the Kenda claws 23" tall tires on the front, but not sure about clearance.  You know of anyone who runs these tires in a 23"?
