Pilot FL400R 'follow-on prototype' for sale...
« on: May 17, 2011, 08:16:35 AM »

Does anyone have any further info on this, and whether it's likely to be legit?  It looks awesome if so, and I'd be tempted to buy it (though it does look a bit ungainly, and uglier than the FL400R).

It looks as though it's a 2-stroke 700cc V-twin engine, which must absolutely fly!  Any info on the company that built it, and/or how it performs would be interesting.

I seriously doubt it's legit...Then again,maybe it is,and was never accepted by Honda...I see several things wrong,and I'm not a Honda engineer....
First, look at the front suspension geometry...The relation between the a-arms and tie rods scream major bumpsteer....Also,look at the pic of the rear lower arms...They appear to be arms that originally used bushings...They drilled through the bushing tube and put a heim in it...Pretty shabby design if you ask me...Also,the rear shocks have no spacers in the shock mount, meaning the shocks would slide around in the mount...I would run from it....Looks like someone is just wanting to get rid of a nicely painted piece of junk....

The 750 V-twin looks to be an industrial engine. A Kawasaki 750 V-Twin engine that looks similar is 29HP. I see a jack-shaft mounted in cast iron pillow blocks.
