trouble starting

ok i know it is very bad to spray starting fluid into a two sroke but that is the only way to start my 81 odyssey. it still takes about 10 to 15 pulls to start once it is started it is hard to tune the carb. when running it runns ok but i dont know what else to do it has good compression? please help

did you already clean the carb or put a rebuild kit in there? you can also put mixed gas in the spark plug to get it started instead of ether... iv always thought bout that too & dont like doing it that much but sometimes is ok but to much can hurt
