I read not too long ago where they are turning some of the decomissioned missiles into space launch platforms for satellites. Cool stuff!

I almost joined the air force right out of high school, I went to MEPS in KC and did the physical and all the jazz.  I just couldn't sign the dotted line!!!

The company where I work does alot of work for Fort Riley here in Kansas.  The first summer I worked here I was sent out to the fort for three weeks to move 80,000 cubic yards of dirt to cover old settled landfills.  The land fill was right by the testing range.  Talk about feeling uneasy, I was operating a 637E Cat scraper( a giant yellow moving target!!!) within a couple hundred yards of the test site.

While we were there I found a bunch of .50 cal rounds and a Proximity missile nose.

I averaged 72hours a week, I made some serious beer money that summer.

They are using some of the old boosters to launch some satallites into low orbits. I almost didn't sign either but I caver to my buddies peer pressure. I am really glad i did, its been a great time(atleast most of it). LOL Here are a few more pics.
