2 new pilots
« on: November 16, 2017, 01:01:01 AM »
Just purchased two pilots about a week ago .  One has lots of work done to it supposedly ported and polished high compression .  Was recommended to Run 50-50  race fuel and pump gas . I'm currently running 100% 114 VP 32 to 1 with castor 927 .  During shutdown I hear a slight squeak almost like a ring noise would 100% VP be causing damage or does anyone recommend better oil  I did a compression check 185 psi .  Any Comments or  answers be appreciated thank you .

I'm an amsoil guy myself.. Never been a fan of the castor based stuff but many people use it... I had a squeak as you described myself once, turned out to be the belt rubbing the clutch... Take the belt off and try it... If not, it could be some compression bleeding back through the reeds... Mine runs about 175psi compression and I can get by with 92 octane pump gas so I would say straight racing fuel may not be needed... Try the 50/50 and listen for detonation... Sounds like bb's bouncing off a piece of glass...
