I bought a 81 250 for my son I have a fl350 myself I bought the 250 through eBay so I did not get a chances to check it out but the prices was good
So I said why not . It has a 30mm muklin flatslid carb pilot jet is 45 but there is no number on the main jet and I can't figure out how to get the needle out to check what grove it's in it's gravity feed
Which I hate we'll most likely put it back to stock .the vacum hose is not hooked up to any thing should I cap that off for now and for a 250 what's better running 32/1 or 40/1 on the 350 Iam running
40/1 but does the 250 need more oil . And how do you change the oil in the reduction case I can't find a drain bolt and the Manuel is no help thanks

If the connection on the crankcase that ran the pump is open, it is sucking air and it will lean out.
There is no drain on the chain case. You have to remove the fill and tip machine.
I run 32:1 in all my 2 strokes.

Thank's for the information never heard of haveing to tip something over like this to drain it . I was going to open the case anyway to check things out do you think it would be ok to put my own drain in it .and any idea on the carb it's a 30mm mikuni flat slide there is no number on it and what I read was 280 was standered on them that seems to big to me .and I can't figure out how to get the jet needl out to check what grove it's in there's plastic covering it and it won't move Iam stuck . Do you think I should just go back to a stock carb I've been very happy with the one in my 350 I am running a 45 pilot 145 main and the needle in the 3rd grove Ilive in PA alt 690 ft temp around 50 to 60 degrees I do notices a 10 to 20 degree drop our rise in temp makes a difference in the jetting.this was all new to me up to 6 months ago when my wife bought me the fl350 now I love working on them as much as ridding they are prices to keep in shape .

You might do a search on the forum here to see if anyone has added a drain. You would need to make sure the plug does not hit anything inside.
Mikuni and Keihin jet numbers do not align. You would want to do plug chops to see where that 280 falls.
