FL250 Driven Pulley (Top-End Version 7.5")
« on: August 22, 2012, 04:03:52 PM »
I have a driven pulley / clutch that is for an FL250.
It's NOS though I could not find any serial numbers, but looks the same as a Comet.
Was told that it is for higher rpm range or performance.
7 1/2" O.D., 3/4" Bore, 3/16" Keyway.

Anyone know about these, or what belt to use?
Nobody could help from the Hoser site.

Measure the width inside the sheaves at the outer edge. The OEM belt is 3/4" and the ones that came with the Comet kits used a 1 1/4" belt.

LiveWire,

Have you ever seen the old Salsbury 500 Series being used on FL250 models?
I'm wondering what the difference is engagement rpm wise.
I have a 500 Driver as well, all will attach perfectly but would like to get your view on it.

My knowledge of the 250 stuff is only a fraction of what I know about the 350s. I don't see why it would not work. Being that it uses a wider belt, it is likely a model higher than the one that was used on the 250.

The manual for the comet says it should not exceed 25hp, this raises the question what is the hp on a stock 250 other than that i would say if it fits let'er buck

I read 18HP. I don't recall where. The OEM clutch may have been rated for something like 20HP.

The drive pulley on the 500 has a 1" keyed bore. The FL250 is 1" bore / no key.
Is this going to be an issue?
