Pressing the crank
« on: April 23, 2009, 03:43:51 PM »
I finally got some parts and the tools, i now have the crank shaft out and
am ready to change the rod and bearings, What i want to know is there
any reason why i cant press the old pin out my self, and what do i need to know about pressing the new pin back in. How do i make sure i dont press to far and that the 2 halfs of the crank are lined up correctly?

Thanks in advance

Stuart

There are special tools and techniques for the job. This is something better  off left to the pros.

You would need at a minimum a 30 ton press, v blocks, a precision dial indicator, calipers, a lead hammer, and patience.

If you don't have the right tools don't even try it. You'll just end up looking for a new crank.
