What will be needed?
« on: June 22, 2004, 02:21:15 AM »
Hey, I was just wondering what tools, oils, parts etc. I will need for the general up-keep of my pilot. I was thinking of getting a Stanley's 151 piece mechanics tool-set, but any other recommended sets will be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

socket set
wrench set
Torque wrench
Large C-clamp (for squeezing upper & lower balljoints together when removing spindles)
Compression Gauge
Pressure tester
Brake bleeder kit
Gas jugs

2 stoke oil
I use Amsoil series 2000 synthetic....buy it in a case of 4 gallon bottles then fill small pop bottles with the correct amount to mix one jug of gas.

Spare belts
Rear Pads
choke cable
transmission cables
E-brake cable
Tie Rods
Spare cylinder and piston kit
Gasket set
Tires
Rims
It all comes down to $$$$$$ spare of everything is nice  :P

It comes with a bunch of spare stuff, like 2 belts, spare suspension parts, etc. I'll look into everything else you listed... thanks.

OK... anything else, like air compressor, nitrogen filling station for the fox shox, welder, etc?

Also, what rims and tires do you suggest for normal to medium difficulty trail riding?

also, about the belts, are they something i can change on the trail or do i have to tow the pilot back if i lose one on the trail?
Casey
PS- What tools are needed to change a belt? The FS has one of Vrroom's roof compartments so i will be able to carry some tools.

Go with what you have first, besides...you "can't" get a job...so where's the cash coming from? When you're ready and have some cash...earn it yourself, get ahold of me and I'll give you a good price on beadlocks.

When you get it...read the manual...when you're done...read it again. But to answer your question, yes, the belt can be changed on the trail.

You'll probably want a clean dry place to keep your ride.  I don't think it will respond too well to being left outside, or even unused.
