Hi, new member here from North West Michigan. I have been following this forum for a long time, even though I've only been a member for 15 minutes. lol  Thank you to everyone on here, I have found a lot of information that has helped me many, many times. I have a couple FL250's along with an older TRX200sx, nice running little quad, runs better than my oddy's. I'm always working on them...And they are SO hard to start, but despite all their issues I absolutely love them and will not part with them. I have a parts/project one....right now I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade the suspension, shocks maybe fabricate a swing arm for it, larger engine I don't know...has anyone out there done anything like that? Thanks again for all your knowledge and creativity.

I haven't done any of the upgrades you have discribed here but as far as the hard starting part what i did to remedy the hard start problem was  i used the extra spark plug hole and adapted a compression release from a screaming eagle harley davidson motor and it works like a champ, they only would sell them in pair $84 at the time but i had two odys at the time so it worked out. All ya have to do is take an old spark plug that fits the spare hole in the head and brake the ceramic off and plug weld the remaning hole  in the plug then drill and tap it for the thread size and pitch of the comp release. The only problem i had with this fix was the knob on the top of the comp release unscrewed once (thank god it didn't fly off) i just reinstalled it with red loctite and voila not a problem since. Hands down the easiest pulling motors out there your child can pull start it if you show them how it works. Another suggestion if it has sat for a long time with out starting what i do is removed the supply line to the carb and use a squeeze bottle with mixed fuel to prime the  bowl via the removed fuel line of the carb before trying to start it. as far as the working on them alot i think that part was a drag but was always worth it, just my 2 cents on the matter good luck and welcome to the forum
