FL350 Brakes
« on: August 20, 2016, 05:59:03 PM »
Hey guys,

So just got my FL 350 and took it for a drive i like it however there are 2 things i wouldn't mind trying to improve on it to make it perfect.

First is the turning radius, doesn't seem all that great at all.. my Suzuki LJ80 4x4 which is an actual vehicle has a better turning radius.

and brakes.. they seem a bit weak.. hard to tell if they are soft since the handles seem to give off proper feedback I believe(no different than my quads) however the tires dont lock up even at the slowest speeds... I was hoping the tires would lock right up to get the most out of the braking especially the front brakes to make use of that independent braking system.

Anyone got any input?

Try adding toe out until it starts to add drag while going straight. The steering geometry does not toe out on turn enough so adding some static toe out will help. It will make the machine push less so it can go in a tighter circle given the same steering input.

It is good to not only bleed the brakes, but flush the lines through. If you don't want to completely drain them to clean out, at least get a giant jug of economy brake fluid and run that through. I would suggest getting a mighty vac or equivalent to pull the fluid through. Make sure the adjusters on the front drums are tight. Adjust them until they drag a little. Check after a ride or two. If they are loose repeat until they stop getting loose. The shoes often get so worn at the top that they go out of adjustment very quick until the shoes wear into the shape of the drums.
