FL350 PWK 39 tuning
« on: July 27, 2013, 05:06:33 AM »
Can some one help me.
I have recently purchased a FL350 which has had alot of work done to the engine. It is running a PWK 39mm carby with 220 main jet. under full throttle the engine flames out and the fuel ratio gauge leans out exhaust temp head skyward of 1400*c.
I starts well, idles fine plenty of go up to 3/4 throttle. Full throttle cuts out.
Please help, McAnic

It must have an air leak, because that is a huge jet.

There must have been a batch of 39 mm PWKs made that were non standard, because the one on my Pilot required drilled out jets to not run lean. It's been ever since the carb was added to a ATVR built engine in 1995 when Dick owned it, so it's not an air leak. I'm not saying that's what happening here, just that it's a possibility.
The usual 'my two cents' disclaimer applies. :)

ATVR was selling those 41s that are bored out 39s. The 41 would require a larger jet and is also very touchy to jetting.
