FL250 engine problems
« on: April 04, 2013, 10:48:09 PM »
I recently got a oddy fl250 and for some reason when you try to let it idle it just sputters out and dies.  I've cleaned the carb, messed with the idle screw and still nothing.  My engine in general feels a little worn down and won't spin up like a good two stroke should.  Any advice on the idling problem is appreciated because i am out of ideas.  For my engine in general should i just grab a rebuild kit?  The oddy does have an aftermarket DG pipe on it but other than that its stock.
Everything can be fixed with either duct tape or WD-40

Have you done a compression test? If your compression is low from a worn cylinder, it will affect idle more than higher revs.

Thats a good idea, Im not sure if the previous owners ever did anything to the engine i over 30 years so maybe it is worn down.  I will have to do a compression test this weekend.
