I was given an 83 250 that was in the process of being rebuilt. The only item on the frame was the engine, wheels, wiring, steering wheel and throttle cable. I rebuilt the carburetor and have attempted to crank the engine. I have a good strong spark from the plug. I can get the engine to fire by either spraying fuel into the spark plug hole or through the carburetor bore. For some reason I just cannot figure out why it will not pull the fuel from the carburetor.

First you want to make sure you timing is correct. If you know that is fine then, you want to do a leak down test. If you search this forum you will find exactly how to do it. It involves blocking the exact port with a plug, the intake with a plug and pressurizing the entire engine to see if theres a leak. Im guessing your lower end seals are bad.

Thanks, I'll search for the leak down test.
