fl 250 electrical, alternator possibility?
« on: July 11, 2007, 07:39:16 PM »
So, i have a project in mind and am curious if the 350, 400, or pilot have an alternator. I know the 250 uses the magneto to support one light and the ignition, but i want to add multiple lights, and i don't think the magneto will support it.  Do any of the other models come with an alternator or something of that sort? I know the pilot has some sort of stator plate, but i haven't been able to look at a pilot and figure out how it works. Any thoughts on how i should do this? maybe find a small bike alternator and mount it somewhere?
Opinions would be greatly appreciated!

edit: i guess the 250 does have an alternator near the pullstart, but would this be enough power to run several lights and accessories? does anyone know the kind of power the alternator puts out? Voltage? watts?

The pilot and FL350 both have stators that support enough power for lights. The stators are inside the engine just like the fl250. So there is no "external" alternator like you might see on a car.
